# Cannot pull subdirectory only

**Q: Detailed Description of the Problem**

The issue occurs when trying to pull a subset of files from a site from Kinsta, particularly `wp-content/plugins` in this case, but the same behaviour applies always when trying to pull a particular subdirectory of any root-level directory (e.g. themes, uploads, etc). The issue is that the “Update local site” gets disabled and I cannot proceed with the pull operation.

The same behaviour has been reported in the following comment in a different topic ([Cannot push files to staging unless database is also selected - #8 by whiddershins](https://community.kinsta.com/t/cannot-push-files-to-staging-unless-database-is-also-selected/2950/8)) but since the comment hasn’t received a response since January and the topic subject is different, I decided to start a new topic.
