# Switch from mailhog to mailpit

Mailpit is the (spiritual) successor of mailhog. The mailhog project is dead and has a lot of issues: [Issues · mailhog/MailHog · GitHub](https://github.com/mailhog/MailHog/issues)
Mailpit is more lightweight and supports modern architectures like ARM natively

It seems like some interplay between ARM and the macOS Tahoe 26.1 network stack might make this decision for the DevKinsta team:

`mailhog` has been implicitly unmaintained for five years now, and [explicitly for three](https://github.com/mailhog/MailHog/issues/442). `mailpit` is far-and-away the most widely used alternative.
