Kinsta adopts faster C3D VMs in Frankfurt and Sydney data centers

Kinsta is moving its Managed WordPress Hosting platform to the Google Cloud’s fastest virtual machines in two more data centers: Frankfurt, Germany, and Syndey, Australia.

Also known as europe-west3 and australia-southeast1, the two data centers are joining the following six locations already dedicated to Google’s C3D VMs:

  • Jurong West, Singapore (asia-southeast1)
  • St. Ghislain, Belgium (europe-west1)
  • Eemshaven, Netherlands (europe-west4)
  • Council Bluffs, Iowa, USA (us-central1)
  • Moncks Corner, South Carolina, USA (us-east1)
  • Ashburn, Virginia, USA (us-east4)

Just as we did during the launch of C3D VMs in those data centers, Kinsta is migrating customer websites already in Frankfurt and Sydney to the new technology. Meanwhile, customers creating new websites can spot the C3D-powered locations in MyKinsta by looking for the Boosted indicator when selecting a data center for a site:

Data centers featuring C3D virtual machines are flagged as Boosted in MyKinsta.

Kinsta is dedicated to providing customers with the fastest and most reliable hosting anywhere. That’s why we’ve built our service on the most advanced virtual machines Google Cloud has available in each data center. Across most of Google’s platform, that means compute-optimized C2 VMs for now. However, our testing of C3D-based VMs found response time improvements of 20% to 50% over the already-fast C2 technology.

What makes the C3D VMs so fast is technology that includes AMD’s EPYC™ processor and an infrastructure processing unit (or IPU) that Google developed with Intel to offload network and storage I/O from the CPU.

The C2 VMs support a maximum of 60 virtual CPUs and 240 gigabytes of RAM. C3Ds deliver six times those resources — up to 360 virtual CPUs and 2.88 terabytes of DDR5 memory.

Kinsta will take advantage of C3D VMs in other regions as Google makes them widely available in more of the 37 data centers used by our customers.

What’s behind the fastest WordPress sites?

In addition to Google Cloud’s fastest VMs, Kinsta also takes advantage of Google’s low-latency Premium Tier network.

And then there’s a blazingly fast CDN with 260+ PoPs, HTTP/3 support, edge caching, early hints, and built-in image optimization.

If you haven’t already, find a Managed WordPress Hosting package here at Kinsta that’s right for you.
