Pre Sale Question - Hosting two WordPress websites under the same domain

Hi

Is it possible to host two WordPress websites under the same domain with Kinsta?

E.g
1st WordPress install - https://domain.com
2st WordPress install - https://domain.com/differentwebsite/

I don’t want to use a sub-domain.

Hey @kevinvo welcome to Kinsta Community!
The setup you are describing will require a plan with at least two sites and can be achieved by creating a Reverse Proxy, we offer this as an add-on, you can read more about it here. If you want to know more about our plans and add-ons you can reach out our team from here

Follow up question:

I am moving from and Apache host to Kinsta (Nginx) will there be any conflicts with importing the WordPress website and MySQL Database?

Hi Kevinvo,

In general WordPress sites can be migrated to Kinsta just fine, and normally that will not be any issues (moving from Apache to NGINX). Please note that our WordPress hosting server uses MariaDB database as an alternative to (and also compatible with) MySQL database.
If you’d like us help to migrate your WordPress site for you, then you can submit WP Site Migration request (Free Basic migrations and/or Premium Migrations), and our migration team will help to assist you - and they will migrate your site as is.

In case you have any custom Apache rewrite rules for example, you may want to provide the equivalent NGINX rules version (that you know is/are working fine) to our support team, and they will add them to your hosting server and you can then test it and see if it’s working properly.
Also in case there are any plugin(s) installed on your WordPress site which require their custom NGINX rules to be setup on the server side, you can also reach out to our support team and ask them to add those custom rules on the server (and you can then test to see if the plugin(s) will be working as expected).

Nginx Reverse Proxy for $50 USD per month seems very expensive to be able to have an extra website under the same domain. Using a sub domain would be more cost effective?

E.g
1st WordPress install - https://domain.com
2st WordPress install - https://differentwebsite.domain.com

Under the Business 1 Plan, there is only 5 available website installs. How much extra would it cost to add an 6th website install? Or do we have to bump up to the Business 2 Plan?

Hey @kevinvo
Using a subdomain is definitely an alternative to a reverse proxy setup, both of these options would allow you to have 100% of the container resources dedicated to a single site.
Regarding the plans, I would refer you to our colleagues from the Sales team, they will be able to recommend the right plan/offer based on your needs.
