Best Practices for Optimizing WordPress Performance on Kinsta

Hi everyone…

I am relatively new to using Kinsta for hosting my WordPress site, and I’ve been really impressed with the platform so far. However, I’m looking to fine-tune the performance of my website to ensure it loads as quickly as possible, even during traffic spikes.

Here are a few things I am curious about:

  1. What caching configurations work best with Kinsta’s built-in caching?
  2. Are there specific plugins that you’ve found work exceptionally well (or should be avoided) for performance optimization?
  3. Any tips for optimizing database queries on a high-traffic WordPress site?
  4. Is there a preferred way to handle image optimization with Kinsta’s CDN integration?

I also check this: https://community.kinsta.com/t/discover-and-manage-kinsta-s-wordpress-add-ons-alldevopstraining But I have not found any solution. Could anyone guide me about this?I had love to hear your insights, tips, or even examples of what has worked well for your sites. Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi @kirikon255

Welcome to our Community Forums :raised_hands:

In regards to the question you added, let me respond to them one by one:

  1. We usually not recommend using any other type of caching on top of ours, as it will only become redundant, and in the end, the caching systems will end up caching our cached results, which may pose an issue at times when troubleshooting issues on the website (especially any of those coming from caching). Some plugins (such as wp-rocket for example) will automatically disable their own page caching feature for this reason.
  2. We do not officially recommend any specific plugins for that purpose, but WP-Rocket is one of those that usually works pretty well with our configuration.
  3. We do have an article with a good amount of recommendations that could help there – the article is located here. In certain cases where there is a very large number of queries, Object Caching may be useful. For Object Caching we do offer the Redis Add-on (more information in regards to Redis at Kinsta can be found here).
  4. There isn’t a preferred way but we do have a list of plugins that we recommend to use for Image Optimization – those are available here. We used to offer Image Optimization through the CDN service as well, but unfortunately this has been discontinued by CloudFlare, and as such it’s no longer available. (More information in regards to this is also available here)

In addition to those links I would also recommend going through the following articles, as they may contain additional information that could help in your case:

I hope this helps!
