Connect Git Provider : Github is not working

Hi, I am getting issue to connect my git account in kinsta. After I signin with my git account and select GitHub in the ‘Add a static site > Connect git provider’ for static sites, a pop up window appears and closes automatically. Is there some issue? How can we solve it?

Hi @biswash-koirala Welcome to the Kinsta Community!

I have one quick question. How old is your Git account?
If it is less than 3 days, there’s a security check in place that blocks the account. Git account creation date must be more than 3 days for you to be able to connect.

You can refer to this link for more information.

Let me know if this is not the case and your account is more than 3 days so that we can troubleshoot further.

Looking forward to your response.

I’m having this issue. It’s been more that 3 days since I created my account. Although when I first tried, the github account was less than a day old.

I revoked access to Github under User Settings and then re-established it. I received an email from GitHub that Kinsta was added.

I still don’t see the new connection in my user settings. When I go to Static Site creation and try to pull from my Github, it opens the OAuth window and then closes the OAuth window and is at the Connect Git Provider on screen modal.

Should I delete my Kinsta account and start over?

Hi @Snickel2024  Welcome to the Kinsta Community!

Can you send me via private message the MyKinsta URL of your account and the Github username you’re trying to use. Once I have these information, I can check with our Devs to see if there is any block in our system preventing successful connection.

Looking forward to hear back from you. :slightly_smiling_face:

Exactly same issue with github - it’s now Day 4 but still in the ‘Add a static site > Connect git provider’ for static sites, a pop up window appears and closes automatically.

On Day 4, revoked Kinsta Authourized GitHub app from github and re-added successfully, still the same problem.

Hi @big-pauld,

I am sorry that you are having similiar issue with Github.
Can you please send via DM the MyKinsta URL of your account and the Github username are using?

I will need with check this with our Devs to make sure there isn’t any block in our system.
Thank you and looking forward to your response.

@Snickel2024 @big-pauld

Our devs have unblocked your Github accounts. Please give it another try and let us know how it goes. :slightly_smiling_face:

Hello.
I tried again twice. Once in chrome and then Microsoft edge.
Same result - back to same screen as if I never clicked
“ connect github”

Thank you.

Hi @Snickel2024,

I am sorry to hear that.
Have you tried using incognito window and see if that will help?

Anyways, I have asked our devs again to double check if there is another block to your Github account.
We will let you know once they respond. Keep you posted.

Hi @Snickel2024,

Got an update from our devs and we don’t see your Github account on our blocklist.
You should be able to connect without issues.

Can you please also clear your browser’s cache and cookies then try to connect again?
Please let us know how it goes.

sorted for me thank you Adrian

@big-pauld Thank you for the update. We are glad that it is sorted out for you!

Hi. I will check in couple weeks as I’m away from that laptop and passwords.

Hi Merineth, I have problems connecting my Github to Kinsta. Can you please help?

Hi @AdriaanBoot  Welcome to our Kinsta Community!

Could you please send me your Github username via DM? I will check if the user is blocked in our system. Thanks!

Thanks Adrian, I’ve send you a DM with my Github username. I hope this helps in finding the root cause.

Hi @AdriaanBoot, your Github and Gitlab accounts have been unblocked. Please try using them again to deploy your app on Kinsta. :slightly_smiling_face:
