Issue with Docker Error DK0006 since last update

Hi there,

I’m not a tech person, so please forgive me if I ask a dumb question.

Today DevKinsta is stuck on error DK0006. I’ve been using DevKinsta for a couple of years to run a couple of local WordPress sites, nothing complicated so far.

Whenever I launched DevKinsta, I clicked the Docker icon and selected “Re-apply Settings,” and DevKinsta would connect to Docker. Today it updated and the “Re-apply Settings” button has disappeared—I can’t find it anywhere. Does anyone know how to reapply settings? I don’t even know which settings these are; I think I found the solution on this forum years ago and, because it worked, I just kept using it.

I tried reinstalling Docker by moving the app to the Trash and installing it again, but that didn’t help.

When I go to Docker → Troubleshoot, it offers three options:

  • Clean / Purge Data

  • Reset to Factory Defaults

  • Uninstall Docker Desktop

Are those options safe? I’d be happy to remove Docker and reinstall a fresh version, but I’m afraid of losing my DevKinsta site. Which do you recommend—Clean / Purge Data or Reset to Factory Defaults?

Is there a way to back up my site when DevKinsta won’t start?

Docker version: 4.41.2 (191736)
DevKinsta version: 2.13.4 (2.13.4.8833)
macOS: 15.4.1 (24E263)

I’m happy to provide more details about my setup if needed.

Hi @AlexM! Welcome back to the Kinsta community forums!

Thank you for reaching out! I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing this error while trying to start DevKinsta. I understand the importance of resolving this issue as soon as possible so you can get back to developing your site!

I want to confirm the current status of your Docker installation and it’s containers. When you open Docker and review the “Containers” tab do you see the following containers running?

Confirming if Docker is properly running along with the containers will be a first step in determining where the issue is occurring.

Also, if you could please send a direct/private message to me that includes the main.log file from DevKinsta that will help us in our investigation. This file can be located under:

/Users/<yourusername>/Library/Logs/DevKinsta

Please let us know if you have any questions about these steps! We look forward to hearing from you!

Best regards,

Thank you for your answer.
The site was running Docker, but there was an error in communication between the different parts. ChatGPT helped me reassign the good direction, allowing me to export the website. Then I deleted DevKinsta and Docker, ruined a new clean install, and now everything is working smoothly!

@AlexM Thank you for your response! We’re glad to hear you’ve managed to get everything running smoothly with DevKinsta. If you have any other questions or need assistance down the line, feel free to reach out, we’re here to help!
