I have been to the docker community site and found no joy. So…
The devkinsta install process stalls when docker installs part way, but I get a “unable to find docker zsh completion in your FPATH”. Even with 3 complete uninstalls and reinstalls I come to the same place.
What’s happening and how do I get the devkinsta/docker environment working?
DevKinsta & Docker Desktop presently unavailable since I had to completely uninstall them both. But whatever the latest version is available from each website.
Docker Desktop website showing: v 4.40 (apple silicon version)
I went ahead and tried downloading and installing both devkinsta (Version 2.13.4 (2.13.4.8833)) and Docker Destop (4.40.0 (187762)4.40.0 (187762)).
Now, with docker desktop up and running I return to DevKinsta’s opening dialog box which is stuck in the “To use DevKinsta, download and install docker on your computer. / download docker / retry.” window.
Can you try to delete all DevKinsta containers, images, and volumes in Docker Desktop. After that, uninstall and reinstall the Docker Desktop application. Then, try launching the DevKinsta app again.
I had already uninstalled both devkinsta and docker destop via cleanmymac app.
so I downloaded and installked docker desktop. No containers, images and volumes were present. So I downloaded and installed devkinsta.
All I get is the opening dialog box telling me to downlad docker on my computer. See attached screenshot.
Hmm, while the Docker desktop is open, try to launch the DevKinsta app again. Then, check the Docker Desktop and fix these warnings if any will show up.
Hi @kadso , the first two warnings appear to be related specifically to the Docker configuration, and I doubt they are likely to be causing issues with the installation of DevKinsta.
However I don’t see any actual error text on the last one. Are you able to click on the “Error” or the three-dot menu next to it, to see if there’s any information there that describes the third error?
I’d like to show you the error, but at this point when I click on the docker icon in the applications folder docker fails to load.
or at least it appears that way. No docker icon in in the Mac OS doc or appearing when I use command + space bar.
I do however get a a “docker in use” notice when I tray to reinstall docker via the drag its icon in to the application folder. (see attached screenshot)
I restarted. docker now launches as expected. In answer to an earlier question, here is the screen shot of the builder error and the other “Unable to find Docker zsh completion in your FPATH”
Thanks for the help. But in all honesty, in my experience, there are too many moving parts in the devkista/docker stack that are not yet ready for prime time. Please keep working on making this more accessible to the non-developer. Kinsta does such a nice job in other areas. It will be nice to see come into alignement.
I am sorry to hear about the issues you have been experiencing with DevKinsta. Our team strives to deliver DevKinsta in as easy of a way possible to setup, and be compatible with most environments that meet the minimum requirements. However, I do see that in this case it is proving challenging to install on your system which I understand is frustrating.
I will pass your feedback along to our team so we can make improvements in the future.
If you would like to continue troubleshooting however please let us know and we would be happy to help!
