I am trying to install devkinsta on W11. First time through installed docker, followed all prompts, but got a weird error code. Uninstalled docker and tried to rerun devkinsta.exe - but now it does nothing. Re-installed docker but the same thing. There is no log file in appdata/roaming/devkinsta (there is no devkinsta directory). In task manager I see devkinsta.exe pop up for a second or 2 then its gone. Tried re-downloading, restarting etc. Can’t see how to move forwards with this - its just broken. There is nothing kinsta related in my installed apps to uninstall. There must be someing residual in the file system or registry but no idea what. Help!
Hello @duncanelsey ![]()
Welcome to Kinsta Community.
I am sorry to hear you had such an experience with DevKinsta. From what you’re saying you had an error during the installation and that there’s some DevKinsta residue that’s trying to run instead of install.
I would advise removing both Docker and DevKinsta and starting fresh. Please check in Settings > Apps > Installed apps if they are there and try to uninstall. You might need to recheck that WSL 2 is enabled.
Try restarting your machine to check if that has any affect. Perhaps it will show in Installed Apps after.
It’s a bit difficult to troubleshoot such an issue, since I’m not sure what the initial error was when you ran the install.
The summary is to try the basic troubleshooting step, disable Antivirus temporarily, try running the install file as Administrator, recheck Installed apps to see if DevKinsta and Docker appear that and remove them and start over.
Let me know if you’ve made any progress on this. ![]()
Kind regards!
