Local site on different machine

Hello

I am hoping someone can help me as I am pulling my hair out at the moment.

I have been happily working away on a new website using DevKinsta but today everything went pear-shaped as my MacBook had an IOS upgrade and now the Docker app won’t work. I did find some info on it but I am not techie enough to understand how to resolve the issue with Docker.

So I decided to download the apps onto my older iMac to work on the site there but I don’t know how to get the site I had been building on my MacBook to upload to the iMac.

Is there anybody who can help me at all, please? If I can’t fathom it out I’ve lost a huge amount of work :frowning:

Thank you in advance!

Vicky

Hi @vickypsv,

Welcome to the Kinsta Community!

When you launch the Docker Desktop app, please check for any warnings as describe in the screenshots.

If you see any, kindly click the “Re-apply configuration” or “Repair” buttons. Additionally, ensure that the Kinsta containers in Docker Desktop are running when you try to launch the DevKinsta application.

If you continue to have issues, please provide us with the following information:

MAC OS version:
DevKinsta Version:
Docker Desktop Version:
DevKinsta main.log file (usually stored at ~/Library/Logs/DevKinsta/main.log)

Let us know how it goes!

Hi Adrian

Thank you so much for coming to my help!

I can’t launch Docker at all on my MacBook as it just says that malware has been detected and blocks the app from opening. DevKinsta won’t open either because Docker isn’t working :frowning:

Both apps are working on my iMac but I can’t work out how to get the local site I was building on my MacBook onto it so that I can access my work again. Hope that makes sense!

Vicky

The OS version is Sequoia 15.3

@vickypsv Hello Vicky!

Sorry to hear that the issues persist.

I too have Mac with OS Seqouia 15.3 and both Docker and DevKinsta work fine.

Sorry for the back and forth but we need more details. Please provide:

  • Docker version
  • The full error you get when starting Docker

I would proactively like to suggest this thread in case this is the error you are getting. There’s a workaround: Malware Blocked: “com.docker.vmnetd” was not opened because it contains malware - #29 by ccrone - Docker Desktop - Docker Community Forums

In case there’s a different error and you still have issues, please provide the details as stated above.

Kind regards

Thank you Vladimir

Yes it’s the same problem with the malware blocked message but I haven’t managed to resolve it via the suggestions in that thread :frowning:

Hi @vickypsv

You can search the WordPress files from your local directories.
This is the folder structure, where your WordPress files are stored under the public folder.

However, WordPress also has a database, and the data for this database is stored within the Docker Volume. Unfortunately, there is no straightforward method for exporting the database. You may want to look for online resources on how to export a Docker Volume from the Docker Desktop that is not running. As a last resort, you could consider uninstalling and reinstalling Docker Desktop to get the application running again. However, be aware that this approach may result in the loss of database data during the uninstallation and reinstallation process.

So, getting Docker Desktop to work again without uninstalling it is still the best option to get access to your WordPress data, I am afraid. If you could provide us the DevKinsta main.log file, we can still take a look to hopefully provide guidance on getting your existing Docker Desktop working again.

DevKinsta main.log file (usually stored at ~/Library/Logs/DevKinsta/main.log)
