DevKinsta VERY slow, basically inoperable, on my local macbook

Help, my website on my local machine via DevKinsta/Docker was very slow. Would take 2-3 minutes to load a new page. This came out of nowhere. Used to load just fine.

I couldn’t figure out what to do, so I deleted the website locally, removed DevKinsta, and uninstalled Docker. I then restart my computer and did a fresh restart.

I then downloaded my website from Kinsta to DevKinsta, and now I can’t even access my website. WTH is going on?

I have the latest versions of DevKinsta and Docker. I’ve increased resources on Docker, done the VirtioFS thing referenced in other threads, restarted my containers, but nothing has worked. I’ve also deleted unnecessary plugins. WHAT IS GOING ON?

Here is my main.log:

Help!

Hi @grnatog,

I’m sorry to hear that you’re experiencing issues. Could you please send a screenshot showing the error you encounter when trying to load your local site in your browser? Additionally, kindly share the full main.log file with us so that we can investigate the root cause of the problem.

You can click the “Reveal log file in File Manager” to access the main.log file.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

Clicking that “Reveal log file in File Manager” freezes and breaks Finder on my Mac.

Here is the error I encounter when trying to load my local site.

Here is main.log:
(redacted)

In order to identify the source of the issue, could you please set up a new WordPress site using DevKinsta and check if it shows the same latency as your custom local site?

Additionally, while your custom local site is trying to load, could you check the resource information of the containers in Docker Desktop to see if the resources are being fully utilized?

You can also check the resource usage of each container by going to specific Container >> Stats.

example:

I hope the above information will help uncover the source of the latency. Please keep us updated on the progress!

Cool, set up a new site like this?

@grnatog: Yes, that is correct. After that, check if the performance of the new site is significantly better compared to your existing custom site. This will help us determine if the latency issue is on the DevKintsa app level or if it is specific to your custom site.

The new site also is not loading. Here is a screenshot and a 30s gif of the page in what appears to be an infinite load state.

Aug-12-2024 18-24-17

Here is a screenshot of the resource utilization. Looks like this is not the problem either as you can tell there is minimal resources being utilized.

What should I do next?

It’s possible that another application is conflicting with DevKinsta on your computer. Try temporarily disabling any security software while running DevKinsta. If the issue continues, consider uninstalling again DevKinsta and Docker Desktop completely, restart your computer and then reinstall DevKinsta from our official page. If the problem persists, please provide the following information so that we can do further investigation:

Q: OS Version

I actually don’t have any security software running on my Mac. Only additional things are Microsoft OneDrive, Dropbox, and Google Storage.

I uninstalled DevKinsta and Docker, restarted, and then reinstalled and the problem persists.

Q: DevKinsta Version
A: Version 2.13.2 (2.13.2.8698)

Q: Docker Desktop Version

Hello Grnatog

I see in your first post you have tried many things that we would recommend and that it was unsuccessful, regrettably.

The only ting I can think of at this point is trying with Docker version 4.29 or earlier to see if that resolves the issue.

Try downloading Docker 4.29 and let me know if that helps.

Kind regards

After installing Docker 4.29, I was receiving an NGNIX error in DevKinsta when attempting to pull down a fresh sync from production.

I then proceeded to delete both DevKinsta and Docker, including random files and commands found on Stackoverflow to get all parts of those products.

I then downloaded DevKinsta and re-downloaded Docker 4.29, and it is now working again.

Hello @grnatog

Is it also running at the normal speed now with downgraded Docker version?

Kind regards,
